I received a packet in the mail today. It was from a college friend who now lives in Arizona.
The packet came to announce the life, birth and death of her baby boy. She was approximately four months along in her pregnancy when labor began. They were unable to stop it, so the baby was born. He lived for an hour.
I am filled with sadness for her.

Oh Lord. What a beautiful, courageous thing to have an announcement. Lord be with them.

I agree with Jaime that it is a beautiful, courageous thing that they put out an announcement. People sometimes unknowingly treat these little babies as non-people, as if they don't count somehow. I think your friend did something like we do with Novembering, remembering those we have lost. (And I think of how many names I've seen listed as "Baby".)
