My kids are watching Sesame Street. Norah Jones is on today singing to Elmo about missing the letter of the day, "Y".
"Don't know why "Y" didn't come."
I need some Norah today. I need some soulful crooning.

Go, NORAH! Elmo -- that lucky little fabric bastard...
You've been very musical lately...
What a voice! It is a Norah day!
This reminds me of a chapter in Anne Lamott's "Plan B." Her mother's middle name is Norah, but when she dies, her ashes are returned to Anne with her name spelled Dorothy Noraht Wyles Lamott. So Anne proceeds to call her deceased mother "Noraht."
"Don't know why "Y" didn't come."
That's so adorable. I love it when celebrities go on Sesame Street, and enjoy it!! I think my favorite was REM singing "shiney, happy MONSTERS..." They were having so much fun.
But you're in a crooning mood, as with the Howie Day post. Do you also enjoy listening to "melancholy" music, as I call it?
Hey . . . I've seen Norah on Sesame Street . . . oh yeah!
Pearl,
Yes, REM's "shiny, happy monsters" is my favorite too.
And yes, this has been a very melancholy season, best expressed through music. It has been a sad, dying, grieving season. Something else seems to be developing, like a move from fall to winter. I'll blog soon.
I'm a first generation Sesame Street kid, myself. Loved it when it was at the Children's Museum a couple of years ago.
Norah is a favorite, too...so wish I could have seen it. Do they put past episodes of Sesame Street on DVD yet?
sounds like i should be watching sesame more often, oh wait, i work... darn it! :)
i'd love to hear/see that REM episode! do they have it on dvd? :) ha ha, i'll have to ask at Blockbuster next time! :) that'll get some good looks!
