I've used up nearly all of my naptime blogging, so I thought I might as well use the rest of it actually posting something. Here are some random bits.
1. Yesterday was victorious! I had both a shower AND a nap! (that never happens.)
2. Tally pees and poops on us more than the other two combined. I think that she actually holds it until I open her diaper up. Of course her wipes are freezing cold - that might have something to do with it... but still!!! The other day I was bent over her little self trying to get all of the poop out of her unbelievably long crack when - Blamo!! - she loosed the cannons! There was poop all across the changing table, on both the new and the old diaper, on the bars of the changing table, on the wall behind the changing table, on the window, the window trim, on the CURTAIN!, on the dresser next to the changing table, on the monitor, and on the wall behind the dresser! Oh my gosh! That's three feet away from the little pooper's butt - amazing! I was lucky that I yanked my head back upon hearing the explosion - I nearly took it in the face.
3. This year we've cut back the Christmas cookie line-up to two essentials and two well-loved alternates. We simply cannot do without our frosted butter cookies and our thumbprint cookies. They are divine. We also made some russian tea cakes and some chocolate drizzled macaroons. Was it bad for me to follow the poop story with a food story?
4. Livy and Gunnar are sooo excited about Christmas - they like to say how many days are left until Christmas - every time they do I feel a little panic. We have much to do to get ready. We're hosting Pete's family here for Christmas eve. Sort of looking forward to that but also recognizing that I have a fair amount of anxiety related to that eve - still processing that. On Christmas morning it will be just the five of us. We will open presents and enjoy a fancy breakfast. Christmas evening will be spent with some friends - that will be lovely.
5. Yesterday the sky was light grey and the snow was falling slowly and softly. It reminded me of my time at Pacem in Terris... and then I realized that it was last December that I first went to Pacem. It felt sweet to remember my time there and to pray for all those lovely people at Pacem.
6. Time's up. Have to go nurse the baby. Oh dat sweet baby!

Uh, I don't even know what to say about the "Blamo" going on at your house! I mean I've heard of *!@* hitting the fan...but sheesh!
I'll give your cousin Christmas greetings for you on Sunday!

"That's three feet away from the little pooper's butt - amazing!"
A much needed laugh was aquired from that story! Thanks for brightening my night before I go off into dream land.

Happy New Year Gloria! :)
Thanks for writing me! Our little
Gunnar is a gift from God Almighty. He is named after my husband Vince - which means warrior, conquerer. My eldest son is Vince Jr. and we wanted a Norwegian name for our next child but still wanted him to be named after his daddy and since Gunnar has the same meaning, basically... you get the drift. Our 5 year old is Katja Ruth. She also started Kindergarten this year. She also goes to preschool on the "off" days which she loves, but not kindergarten. She doesn't love that! She tells me her teacher is bossy. Go figure! Our baby Natasja is 1 1/2 now. We are at the Ronald McDonald house in Bismarck tonight. She has a bad bacterial infection. She had the same strain last year and was in the hospital for 15 days and we almost lost her. This year, she is bigger and seems to be fighting it better without the 105 degree fevers, so I am learning tomorrow how to administer some kind of antibiotic and boric acid (I think) blown directly into her ears after I suction them out. We need the prayer of His people! Here is an update I posted on my Prayer Warrior Team tonight 1/12/06...
Natasja has that same horrible bacteria as she did last year. We are going to try some new concoction the doctor made up and the pharmacist put together. i will pick it up in the morning and learn how to properly suction out her ears and spray this antibiotic and boric acid directly into her hear. Keep praying sister, I'll need it and so will she. She is so good. how unresponsive she is, but i believe when you are bathed in prayer, that is what the calmness is she experiences really is!
Praise You, God for Your Mighty Work! For you are awesome, God of the Nations, Lion of Judah, Rock of the Ages, Alpha, Omega You're wothy of all praise! In the Name of Christ Amen!!
Talia has Jacob beat in the long distance poop.
Jacob did this to me his first week home. Now he was our first, so I had no idea little cute butts could perform such feats. I was horrified!! And so worried I nearly called the Dr.
Oh, I had no problem whatsoever moving from the topic of poop to food. But, as you know, I have a young child, too. Both are an important and favorite topic of conversation.
